SECTION L: HANDICRAFTS - OPEN

Proudly sponsored by:

 

  • Entry Fee $1.00 unles stated otherwise.
  • Each exhibit must be the bona fide work of the exhibitor
  • All exhibits must be at the Secretary’s Office at the Showground by 5 pm on Wednesday 7 October 2008
  • Exhibitors must reside within 200 km Leeton Post Office
  • Exhibits may be removed at 4 pm on Saturday 10 October 2008
  • Exhibitors must produce exhibitor tickets before any article may be collected.
  • Any item that has been exhibited at a previous Leeton Show is not eligible to enter
  • Each and every exhibit must have been completed within 24 months of the first judging day of the Show
  • Exhibits must be completed articles
  • A Set is two or more matching or co-ordinating garments or articles
  • Sets or groups of items must be securely attached together and labelled with the Exhibitor No and Entry/Exhibit No. (this is to ensure exhibitors’ property is not mislaid)
  • Soiled work or evidence of wear on articles or garments will not be accepted for judging
  • Exhibitor’s name must not be visible on any item
  • Exhibits may be transferred to appropriate section at discretion of the stewards
  • Any additional decorative items or props must be securely attached to the exhibit and labelled with Exhibitor No and Entry No (this is to ensure that all items are returned to correct exhibitor)
  • Read Wilma’s Hints and Tips for helpful information on entering items in a Show.
  • No late entries accepted
  • No exhibit may be removed without the permission of the Stewards

Wool Article/Garment State Competition

 

153.      Three different types of Wool Article and or Garments

 

Conditions

·               The following definitions apply for the purpose of this competition:

·               Garment – an item that can be worn eg dress, jacket, scarf, hat etc

·               Article – a utility item that is not worn but can be used:  in the home eg blanket, with an outfit eg bag, for amusement eg toy, as a decoration eg picture.

·               The whole article and/or garment must be constructed of and contain a minimum of 80% wool

·               Exhibits (articles/garments) may be knitted, crocheted, sewn, felted etc and must be handcrafted (use of sewing machine is permitted)

·               A sample of yarn, fabric or fibre with label must be attached to each item making up the exhibit.  If a label is not available (as in a hand spun or felted item) a handwritten label with relevant details and sample will suffice.

·               An exhibit in this competition may consist of the work of one individual or a group of individuals or an organisation

·               All three articles/garments must have been completed within the 12 months prior to the local show and must be the bona fide work of the exhibitor/s.

·               An exhibit having won at the local show may be exhibited (the same three articles/garments) at the Group Final.  The winning exhibit at the Group Final is then eligible to compete in the State Final.

·               An exhibitor is only eligible to represent one Society at Group level and one Group at State Level

·               An exhibit (article/garment) that has previously competed at Group level is not eligible to compete again.

·               If  this class is not scheduled or attracts no entries at a local show, the Show Secretary (or delegate) may select three suitable individual exhibits and with the exhibitors permission enter them in the Group Judging as and exhibit representing the particular Society concerned.

·               It is the responsibility of the Group Secretary and winner to co-ordinate the transfer of the winning entry to Sydney for the State judging.


 

HANDCRAFT GROUP DISPLAYS

 

Entries Close: 5.00 pm Wednesday 7 October 2008

Items must be ready for judging in the Arts & Crafts Pavilion by 10 am Thursday 8 October 2008. 

  • Judging includes points for best presentation (display) of judged items following judging of individual items.
  • Trophy awarded by the Leeton Show Society Inc for the Group with the highest aggregate points including points for display.
  • Trophy awarded for the most Outstanding Article in Group Displays
  • Winner of Most Outstanding Article in Group Display will be eligible for inclusion in judging for the Most Outstanding Article in Show class ****
  • All exhibits must have been completed within the last 24 months and not previously exhibited at the Leeton Show.
  • A Group is any number of people who meet on regular basis including school students.
